Donating To Keep The Homeless Warm and Full
In case you haven’t heard, we will be donating a portion of all Division 6IX sales towards clothing and feeding the homeless of Toronto. Our first run of this ended up being extremely successful! We’ve made over $400 in donations since launching our product line and sales are steadily increasing, which means more clothes and food for these lovely, misunderstood people.
Walking around the city in this brisk weather had us realize that these people are in desperate need of all basic items, such as jackets, hats, scarves, socks, pants, blankets, etc. and that without the help of our fellow Torontonians, these people run the very real risk of not making it through this winter. We encourage that even if you don’t plan on purchasing any of our Division 6IX pendants, to come by our storefront at 9100 Jane Street Unit 28 and drop off any and all pieces of clothing that you do not plan to use!
Along with keeping the homeless warm, we’ve went to buy little Protein Packs, which are filled with all different types of nuts and seeds (and even a little bit of chocolate/candy for their sweet tooth). Giving these people some (mostly) healthy and non-gmo snacks gives them a change from the bags of chips or fast food that they’re accustomed to. We’ve gotten a very positive response from the people we’ve donated too, and have also taken tips as to what to bring for the next time around!
The main photo of this article shows one of the nicest and down to earth people i’ve met and myself having a conversation. He was telling me about his life and what brought him to the streets of Toronto, which was a very unfortunate series of events that could have happened to any one of us. Upon request, the gentleman asked if we had a pair of warm socks we could donate to him. Not having a pair available, we went right ahead to the nearest store and bought him 2 fresh packs to keep him through the upcoming weeks. Needless to say, he couldn’t have been more thankful and we couldn’t have been happier to donate to someone who was in need!
Remember that this winter is on path to be the coldest in recent years and with there not being many Warm Shelters available throughout the city, many homeless people are relying on your donations of blankets, food and clothes to stockpile in the hopes that it will block the dangerously high winds and snow from getting through to them. So if you have absolutely anything to donate, dont hesitate to drop by, because to you it may be a small gesture, but to them its a matter of life of death. Thank you all for your support! This is why The 6IX is known as one of the greatest cities in the world!
